Zenkichi is not a large man by any standards but neither is he small he is an average guy mostly standing in at five nine. His weight is a mere one hundred and fifty five pounds a rather decent weight for someone of his size or at least he thinks so. His features are rather average like his body he does not stand out as a pretty boy or a truly ugly person one could say he was more a rugged looking person then anything else. His body again rather average for the world of shinobi at least maybe even a little below standards if there are any. His muscles are shaped but not over toned only with real work might one see them, his abdominal muscles are cut sharply seeing as his diet and training schedule keep him moving a lot. His body of course like any real fighters is not flawless it holds scars from old battles some which are noticeable others nearly invisible to the naked eye.

His eyes are most like the thing that stand out most about him, they are always bloodshot for some reason giving him a demon like appearance. The actual color of his eyes are a very dark brown which is nearly black in color instead of brown throwing people off and making them not wish to look him in the eyes. His hair is rather long for a males at least most males it is often wild and sticking out every where so he must tie it in a ponytail. But even then his hair is often wild not helping his vision out in the least something he feels he should just cut it all away but hasn't so far. His chin, cheeks, and upper lip are often covered his scruffy beard/goatee that runs up and connects to his sideburns making him often look older then he truly is.

Zenkichi's skin is light but not to light like any person of Asian ancestry. His forehead is marked by two scars clearly seen at any point in time one is a vertical slash directly across his forehead measuring at four inches long. It is similar to the line missing shinobi scratch through the symbol of their village on their headbands. The second scar is another line through the first vertical line this one goes downward diagonally towards his right eyebrow from the top of his forehead. Another scar is on his right cheek extending but a few inches from his nose all the way to his ear which has just the bottom of it missing. Zenkichi is often seen wearing a dark blue kimono instead of the usual shinobi attire this is because he finds them easier to move in. Again unlike most shinobi who wear various pouches to hold their tools Zenkichi does not he has instead a large summoning scroll strapped to his back which holds anything he needs. On each of his wrists are beige cloth which have a seal inscribed upon them to activate his jutsu lightning blade creation.

Personality: He is usually a kind and reserved person who dislikes fighting, and because of that he is often underestimated by those who do not know of him. He possesses great courage and strength but does not care to show it off like some do. Despite his strength and courage, Zenkichi still behaves rather meek out of the battles and often humbles himself around his rivals and friends. Zenkichi is quite friendly, and many of his rivals have become friends of his though they won't hesitate to fight against him.

While he is kind and reserved outside of the battles once in the fight Zenkichi will not hesitate to fight with everything he has and kill his enemy. But in this sense Zenkichi is not arrogant or spiteful towards his opponent he always apologizes after taking the life of his enemy. He will even go to the trouble of burying his opponents body and laying a grave marker so the enemies people can find them.

Anger is not an emotion Zenkichi often feels but he does feel anger and hate towards the bijuu. Once he has put his mind to it he will not hesitate to kill a bijuu container the person itself he does not hate but his anger blinds him towards anything else so he can seal away the bijuu. He feels his anger against the bijuu is righteous as a bijuu killed his father and he needed to avenge him or else he would never feel better.

Remorse and guilt are two feelings Zenkichi feels very often he has memorized every face of every person he has ever killed and they still haunt his dreams. After every battle he is in a guilt ridden mood feeling he is weak because he had to take the life of his enemy when there are other choices. But these things are pushed away when his life is threatened due to his realistic thinking as he knows if he didn't defend himself he would be dead.

In battle he is usually calm and tactical in the way he fights not saying anything to his opponent or announcing his jutsu as some do. His way of fighting is rather different one might say as he normally uses long range and short range attacks only as he has no real mid range attacks.

Pure hate is something that is reserved only for those within the akatsuki organization for what they have done to him in the past. As he does not know which member has made him suffer so much within the Akatsuki group he despises them all and will kill them on sight if possible.

Zenkichi is also a philosopher he contemplates the being of every thing and why it is such. He will sometimes in battle if he actually finds the person reasonable ask them to speak instead of battle asking them certain questions. He seeks the answers that no one can give except how they truly feel as there is no real answer to his questions as they reflect the heart and soul of the person he is speaking to.

History:

Before his time Arc:

Before his time in this world another story must be told so one may better understand Zenkichi. This is years before his birth starting with his father and mother who were both shinobi of the kiri village. The story starts when Zenkichi's mother was four months pregnant with Zenkichi at this time no one knew what would happen. His father was a respectable jounin not known around the world as some but he was known within his village as someone who could get his job done. At this point peace was obtained as the villages had ceased battling for a while. Kumo as always kept it's troops and power stocked up while other nations kept their bijuu holders close at hand in case of war. Kiri itself had only one bijuu at the time in a man name Koroko he had been selected years ago yet still had no control of his bijuu. He was too afraid of the power of the bijuu inside of him to do anything to control it. So over the course of several years the mental state of the bijuu container started to fall apart it was so slight at first no one really noticed it. Koroko withdrew into himself and slowly his personality began to change to the point where he lost control within the village one day.

Right in the middle of the village he lost control and began to change into his bijuu form. The people around could do nothing but watch as the shinobi of Kiri tried to contain Koroko before he could fully transform but it was in vain. Koroko fully transformed into his bijuu and killed everyone around him and started to rampage through the village. The jounin, special jounin, and even the Mizukage had to come together to force it out of the village but they still had not beaten the awakened bijuu. Zenkichi's father was a specialist in fuinjutsu he knew he had no choice he had to seal the bijuu before it did anymore damage. He left Zenkichi's mother with a kiss on the cheek and ran towards the bijuu asking his fellow Kiri Shinobi to cover him so that he might seal the bijuu away. The Kiri shinobi banded together and launched a massive wave of jutsu to cover Zenkichi's father from the bijuu as he began his sealing jutsu. The bijuu brushed away their attacks like they were mere insects to it which may have been how the bijuu thought until it saw Zenkichi's father. He was standing all alone in the open making handsigns at a speed that surpassed the limits of man. His desire to protect the village and his family drove him to the extreme as he activated the jutsu the bijuu roared in fury and attacked.

Try as they might the Kiri shinobi could not stop it as it unleashed a deadly attack made up of pure chakra. The explosion rocked the area around them and killed many shinobi and wounded many more to the point where they thought they were doomed to death at the hands of the bijuu. But when the smoke and debris cleared from the air the bijuu was gone standing in the wake of the destruction was Zenkichi's father. The Kiri shinobi cheered with all their might thinking that Zenkichi's father had ended the threat but the truth was he had only postponed it. When he turned to face them he should a grave wound one that would have killed most shinobi but he had withstood it at least long enough to contain the bijuu within himself. Due to his improvised seal at such a quick pace he had no control over the bijuu within him he merely had it kept inside of him he knew it would break free when he died from the wound. The shinobi of the village gathered together as the medical shinobi tried to keep him alive although they knew they couldn't do such a thing.

The gathered shinobi held a small council and decided there was only one thing they could do. Since upon his death Zenkichi's father would release the bijuu they knew they had to get him as far away from the village as possible. Zenkichi's father knew what decision they would come to and told them to make it quick seeing as he did not have long to live after all. So with a smile on his face as he lay nearly dead as the shinobi of Kiri gathered around him to use a space time ninjutsu to teleport him away he thought of his family. They teleported far away into a forest where he lay staring at the sky knowing he was dying but trying to hang on to the last of his life. But death had other plans and Zenkichi's father died with a smile on his lips knowing he had done everything he could to protect the village and his family. The bijuu was released upon Zenkichi's death furious at the man for sealing it even if it had just been for a short amount of time. But when it turned to Zenkichi's father it found nothing but a corpse it could not even take its revenge on the man. It is unknown what happened to the bijuu but it is suspected that the leaf nin captured and sealed it within one of their own.

Birth Arc:

Zenkichi's mother had been a mere four months pregnant with Zenkichi at the time of her husbands death. The death of her husband was a shock and devestated her emotionally she could not believe he was truly gone she wouldn't. So strong was her emotional denial that she believed Zenkichi's father was right beside her through the months of her pregnancy. She was finally forced to admit it when they recovered the body and made a grave for him and it broke her spirit driving her to insanity. When Zenkichi's time to be born came for one night she had regained her sanity as the pain of his birth broke through her breakdown. She smiled and cried as any mother would but not just because she loved him she also cried because she could see her husband inside of this small child.

Child Arc:

Zenkichi did not have the same rights as most children did the main one was that instead of being taken care of by his mother he took care of her. After Zenkichi's birth she went back to her broken state of mind she wouldn't eat or drink anything for the longest time until one day Zenkichi tried to feed her and she gladly ate. It became Zenkichi's job to feed her if anyone else tried she would not eat one bite or drink a single sip. Because of this he was often home stuck feeding her luckily she still went to the bathroom on her own and took baths when he asked her to on her own. But it caused another problem Zenkichi was not able to interact with people his own age so he could not relate to them at all. Because he could not relate to kids his own age they often shunned him whenever he got off on his mothers 'good' days where she gained a bit of sanity back before losing it again.

Even though his father was the hero of the village at least for now Zenkichi knew next to nothing about him except that he looked a lot like him. On one of his mothers 'good' days where she magically recovered for a day before falling back into insanity he was free at least for this one day. So he went out to play it was a relief to go and play outside after being inside the house for so long he wasn't trapped now. He tried to talk to the other kids but didn't know what to say when he tried to play their game one of them told him to go home. When he asked why they were acting in such a way he got hit right in the face and fell to his butt it was the first time he had ever been hit or felt pain. He didn't know how to react until the boy told him to go back to his crazy mother this was also a first he could feel a hot boiling sensation in his gut. It was the first time he had felt anger before and he tackled the boy to the ground where they wrestled and hit each other for a few moments before giving up the fight.

Zenkichi walked away from the fight with a split lip as the other boy with his friends walked away with a bloody nose. When Zenkichi arrived home his mother was all over him asking what had happened to him he just told her he had gotten into a fight and hit someone. His mother scolded him telling him that the Hitoshi's didn't use their fists to win fights. Confused by her words Zenkichi asked how someone won a fight if they didn't hit the other person, his mother laughed and told him that his father could beat an opponent by simply touching them. He of course didn't believe her but she told him that his father used the art of fuinjutsu or sealing so he could do things that many couldn't. Zenkichi asked if he could learn this and become like his father his mother smiled happily and told him yes he could learn the art of fuinjutsu and become a man like his father. Zenkichi was thrilled to learn he could become like his father after all he had nothing but good things about his father from those he spoke to. His mother of course was manipulating Zenkichi as she still only saw as an extension of his father not his own person she was trying to mold him into his father.

Academy Arc:

Zenkichi was a rather ordinary student in his classes besides his excellent chakra control nothing else stood out. The main thing that stood of about Zenkichi was that he refused to graduate the academy until he was taught fuinjutsu. He could easily pass the tests his teachers knew but every time they came up he failed them as he wanted to learn fuinjutsu. The teachers at first refused saying he could learn that later on in the genin squads if he would just pass the tests and graduate. But he was adamant he was going to fail the tests every time until they taught him at least one fuinjutsu until then they were stuck with him. The teachers thought maybe if they let him fail once or twice he would see they wouldn't cave in but he failed three times in a row to prove to them he was the one who wasn't going to cave in. Finally one of the teachers taught him a simple fuinjutsu the ability to seal in a small breeze the amount was barely enough to blow out a candle but Zenkichi was thrilled and passed the next graduation test.

Genin Arc:

After graduating from the academy Zenkichi like everyone else was placed into a team of other genin and a sensei to lead them. It was on the first day he could already see that he would never get along with his sensei. His sensei was a hard hitter he thought shinobi should be closed off from their emotions and be able to kill without hesitation and remorse. Zenkichi could never accept these ideals he didn't like hurting people but knew he would if he had to yet his feelings of guilt and remorse never left him even if he wanted them to. When it came to taijutsu and genjutsu Zenkichi was an absolute loser taijutsu he knew the basics but his technique was terrible. Genjutsu he could control the chakra but inflicting that sort of pain on his enemies was not ideal for him due to the fact that he knew what could happen if you broke someone emotionally thanks to his mothers condition. His ninjutsu skills were on par with his fellow genin but he didn't want to use ninjutsu he wanted to learn fuinjutsu.

Zenkichi approached his sensei and told him he wanted to learn the art of fuinjutsu instead of learning ninjutsu. At first his sensei couldn't believe what he was hearing what kind of genin would use fuinjutsu he asked. Zenkichi replied the son of the man who saved the village will use fuinjutsu and show its true strength to everyone. To his sensei Zenkichi looked exactly like his father only much younger so he agreed that he would find someone who could teach him fuinjutsu. Zenkichi told the good news to his mother who was equally thrilled to hear it she was still molding him to become like his father in her mind as long as Zenkichi was like his father her husband still lived. Zenkichi just wanted every to know that fuinjutsu could be used properly and wasn't some useless skill in battle. He trained along side his team and after that he would train alone with another jounin of the village. This went on for months until his sensei decided the team was ready to go forth and try to become chuunins through the chuunin exams.

The first test was a breeze for all of them of course it was nerve racking but they made it through without any real trouble. The second test was the one that caused them the most problems Zenkichi's fellow genin Reyne and Koru would say it was a nightmare most likely.

After entering the forest of death in konoha they advanced slowly towards the tower all while on the look out for the enemy. Reyne was the first to notice another team of genin from the village of iwa watching them from the trees. With blinding speed Koru attacked with a fuuton jutsu to throw them off but what the iwa and Zenkichi's team didn't know was that a third team was watching them all waiting for the chance to strike. And soon enough they did as Koru and Zenkichi were tied up in fighting with the iwa team they ran out striking at Reyne who held their scroll. Zenkichi leaped in front of her and slammed his elbow into the attacker's jaw sending him backwards but he had been given a sharp cut going from his left shoulder down to his right side. It was shallow but long they had to get out of here he knew so with the help of Koru and Reyne they used a combination technique using earth water and wind to blind their enemies while they escaped. Using minor healing techniques and a lot of bandages Reyne patched Zenkichi up so they could continue onwards to this day that slash mark covers Zenkichi's chest.

After their first battle the team moved to a large tree and kept low while discussing plans to get a scroll if they didn't get one soon it might be over for them. The plan was simple they made a fake scroll by making the outside look exactly like the real scroll's outside to fool their enemies seeing as no one is allowed to open them. Using Reyne as bait they allowed her to go out and act like she was wounded they made a fake wound using berries from the forest. Soon enough a foolish enemy team of genin came out trying to take the scroll from her too bad for them Reyne was actually the heavy hitter in the group. As one of them reached for the scroll Reyne punched him in the stomach hard she broke two ribs and cracked a third sending him flying. The second Reyne struck Koru and Zenkichi came out attacking Koru with a fire ninjutsu and Zenkichi with a kunai. Koru dispatched his opponent quickly or so he thought it was a water clone and he had fallen for it leaving Zenkichi open for another attacker. As the hidden opponent came out of the ground striking at Zenkichi's face with a kunai he was as good as dead if Koru's speedy tackle hadn't pushed the blade off course.

The blade gouged through his cheek and sliced off a piece of his ear he could feel the warm blood dripping down his cheek and neck. Koru had saved his life but in return the enemy had turned on him both, attacked at the same time one with a water style jutsu slamming him against a tree the second pinned him to the tree with the kunai. Reyne caught one of them and managed to bring him down with her taijutsu but she was wiped out now there was nothing she could do. Zenkichi went after the last one using all his speed and cunning to beat him it was a short battle. The ending was Zenkichi won but was wounded but a last ditch effort from the other genin using an explosive tag right between them. Zenkichi was nearly done his strength was fading as he used most of his stamina and new wounds along with old bled profusely making his vision swim. With Reyne's help they managed to unpin Koru from the tree but he was at his limit as well, the worst part is after they were able to move out they discovered the team they were fighting didn't have the scroll they needed. Zenkichi couldn't believe it after all that they didn't get the scroll they needed to pass this test it made no sense for them to fight unless they had the other scroll he thought.

They were a nearly broken team Zenkichi was wounded in several places now and exhausted physically. Koru could no longer use jutsu due to his hands being completely pierced by the kunai earlier, and Reyne was exhausted physically and mentally from using so many healing jutsu. Out of all of them Zenkichi was the only one that could move properly even with his wounds so he waited until night and left a warning seal around them in case an enemy came to steal the scroll. He knew he had to let them rest if he didn't they would break before they ever got close to the tower so he was going to get the scroll they needed himself. Moving through the forest he found other teams that had done better then his and others who were in the same predictament wounded and tired but they still had their scrolls. It was one of these groups that Zenkichi attacked he moved quickly rushing the one guarding their small camp. He had no choice for the sake of his friends he struck without mercy slamming the kunai so deep into his shoulder that Zenkichi lost his grip on it. Rolling as he hit the ground due to running into the watchful genin he jumped at the second one which had awoken. Again without mercy he ripped her apart with eight shuriken thrown from his hands all aimed at vital points she was alive but she was no longer a threat. The last one was fully awake and ready to fight Zenkichi now and as fate would have it he was the one holding the scroll Zenkichi needed.

It was an intense battle that lasted nearly an hour weapons, stamina and willpower had all been drained from both of them as they stood there gasping for breath. They gave one last charge at each other Zenkichi wasn't done though he moved passed the enemy genin's punch and slammed his forehead into the enemy genin's. The headbutt nearly knocked them both out but Zenkichi was driven to protect his friends and fellow genin. He took the scroll from the knocked out enemy genin and as he was about to leave with it he felt a searing hot pain across his entire back as the first genin he had stabbed used a fire jutsu. Impossible Zenkichi thought as he fell to his knee's his back laid wide open for the air to cool as the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. He had been aiming for the lung with the first genin he had stabbed apparently he had missed the lung by just a few centimeters and sent the genin into shock. When the genin awoke to see his team defeated he launched this last attack to kill Zenkichi but failed as he didn't have enough power due to blood loss. But he had succeeded in a way Zenkichi was done he could no longer move the last of his energy had been spent with that headbutt now he was completely empty. He couldn't give up though he told himself as he crawled along the ground inch by inch.

He had given up hope of surviving when his vision went dark and he passed out. When he awoke it was beside a creek with Reyne and Koru over him looking worried he asked them what had happened and they told him when they awoke in the middle of the night because his seal had gone off when a squirrel passed through they couldn't find him. So using Koru's tracking skills they managed to find him long after the fight on the ground half dead and saved him. They asked what he was thinking but stopped when he started to laugh softly and pulled out the scroll he had stolen from the other team. Together they moved towards the tower battered and exhausted but they made it they had passed the second test. Once they made it through they were told inside the tower that there were to many of them and that they would have to weed out the weakest of the bunch. Koru and Reyne withdrew they had no energy left to go on Zenkichi honestly did not either he was a walking corpse. But his pride and dedication to showing everyone fuinjutsu could be used as a true skill would not allow him to back out as his fellow genin had. By the time they were ready to hold the fight to weed out the weakest of the genin they realized they had made too many leave there were only ten left now. They continued anyways Zenkichi's fight was last thankfully allowing him to gather so strength back.

His fight was against a genin from the vilage of Kumo who like him was rather beat up and tired but refused to back down from a fight. They didn't move for a few moments they just looked at each other then like a fuse had been lit they ran at each other. Zenkichi did something no one expected he fell to the ground and skid along it kicking the enemies feet from under him while at the same time he he slashed upwards with his kunai. The Kumo genin fell down straight into the slash it cut from his shoulder down to his leg creating a huge wound. The Kumo genin surprisingly did not give up he stayed standing just barely as blood fell to the floor from his massive wound. Zenkichi stoof from the ground unharmed but covered in his opponents blood and stared at him like a demon. Zenkichi told his opponent to surrender he couldn't win now the Kumo genin of course refused saying he could still win. Zenkich rushed him throwing eight shruikens which most were blocked buy they were mere distractions so he could come flying in and slam a kick to the temple of his opponent. His opponent fell to the ground defeated and Zenkichi let out a bloodcurdling yell as he realized he had passed the test.

It was after his fight with the Kumo ninja that the proctors stated there would be a one month break period in which they could rest and train. Zenkichi nearly passed out from hearing this he thought he was going to have to keep fighting more genin today and he couldn't do that. His sensei and fellow genin came back proud that he had passed the test where so many others had failed.

Given that he had one month Zenkichi needed to train himself even more he had to gather his power to one point fuinjutsu. But he also realized he had a great flaw he was getting wounded to often he needed to do something about that before he got himself killed. So he went to his sensei and demanded training the next day as a chuunin under the assumption that he would pass. For the next month his sensei trained him like he would have a trained a chuunin not giving him an ounce of mercy if he faltered with his training. When the time came to fight it out in the true chuunin exams no one recognized Zenkichi he was like a different person. His hair had grown long and wild his eyes held a sly cunning feeling in them that had never been seen before.

It was time for the final test Zenkichi knew as he walked into the arena he had the first fight out of them all which he was rather pleased to learn. The fight went down with a single move from Zenkichi when his opponent came rushing it he simply touched the enemy genin with his finger. A seal had been placed on the boy and shut down his movements completely when Zenkichi held the kunai to his neck he gave up. It was the quickest battle in the entire chuunin exams the second and third battles were no more exciting ending rather quickly until it was the final battle of the exams. This time the battle was slow neither of them wanted to move they just stared at each other like wild dogs ready to kill. He made the first move throwing a kunai with an explosive tag at the enemy genin causing him to jump to the right where Zenkichi was waiting for him. Zenkichi threw out his hand and grabbed the enemy genin by the neck sticking the seal to him but he backed off letting the enemy genin think he was off guard. As the enemy genin came rushing in Zenkichi activated the seal causing the enemy genin to halt in mid attack. It was over as simple as that no one had ever expected fuinjutsu to be used in such a way it was genius they said. Zenkichi thought it was hard work thats all after all its not like he knew how to do this from the start.

Chuunin Arc:

After the promotion to chuunin Zenkichi was seen in a new light by those around him they could see he was like his father a person who could actually get something done. It was at this point that Zenkichi began to realize that he needed a secondary style and not just fuinjutsu so he approached his old teammate Reyne and asked her to teach him medical jutsus. His sensei did not like the idea as both fuinjutsu and medical jutsu were not meant for combat and he was limiting his options. But Zenkichi told his sensei he could turn these things into real weapons and not just things that anyone could say were easy. Over the next six months Zenkichi went out on missions whenever ordered to and right after he would train medical jutsu with Reyne. It helped them both seeing as Reyne was learning more medical jutsu and could then help teach Zenkichi who was rather good at it thanks to excellent chakra control.

But things weren't all well and good it seems their teammate Koru had begun to grow jealous over their training sessions. In fact Koru liked Reyne to the point where he though he was in love with her, and with her spending so much time with Zenkichi he began to think Zenkichi was trying to steal her away. When in truth Zenkichi did not feel that way towards Reyne at all and Reyne did not like him she actually liked a genin from another team. But jealously and rage clouded Koru's thinking he was sure Reyne loved him the way he loved her she had to he thought. His jealously reached it's peak when he saw Reyne with Zenkichi one day in the park the two of them were laughing and having a good time. Koru so overcome with jealously thought they were laughing at him and exploded suddenly attacking Zenkichi tackling him to the ground. Zenkichi had no idea who was attacking him so he struck without mercy slamming his fist into Koru's throat and activated his sealing jutsu to halt his attackers movement. Koru clutched at his throat finding it hard to breathe and then found it impossible to move. Zenkichi was confused and shocked to learn how Koru really felt after releasing him from the seal Reyne was equally shocked but told Koru she never felt that way about him or Zenkichi. Koru couldn't believe it he felt like his heart had been shattered and ran away from his teammates.

Zenkichi worried followed Koru to see where he was going and to talk to him. Koru had decided if he couldn't have Reyne as his he would leave the village and come back to kill her. When Zenkichi learned this he told Koru he wasn't going to let him leave or even try anything like that. Koru yelled and rushed Zenkichi using a fire jutsu using his own fire against him Zenkichi summoned two kunai to his hands and threw them. His vision being blocked by the fire Koru didn't see the kunai coming until it was too late they ripped into his shoulders. Groaning in pain Koru went to go pull them out but Zenkichi came flying in and slammed his knee into Koru's face breaking his nose and sending him to the ground. Before Koru could recover Zenkichi jumped on him and drove his elbow as hard as he could into the forehead of Koru. It was over Koru was arrested for trying to leave the village and Zenkichi's old team was disbanded and they were placed in new teams.

Jounin Arc:

After completing missions as a chuunin and capturing his own teammate before he could go rogue Zenkichi was promoted five months later to Jounin. Almost everyone within the village now knew Zenkichi's name he looked just like his father the savior of the village. But Zenkichi was a lot different he was tired of all this fighting just the other day he had been on a mission were they had to kill bandits for robbing people. This wasn't what he had set out to be killing people weaker then him it was something that left a bad taste in his mouth every time. He remembered the faces of everyone he had ever killed they haunted him in his dreams every night making sure he never got a good night's sleep. His training never stopped even after his old team had been disbanded Zenkichi kept training and inventing his own medical jutsu as well as fuinjutsu. The killing began to weigh heavily on Zenkichi it was like a rainy day following him every where he went now. It was affecting his missions to the point where they suspended him from doing any dangerous work until he cleared his head of whatever was bothering him. But the thoughts they always came back those faces looking at him as they realized they were going to die filled with fear of him.

He wasn't a god or anyone special he knew he didn't decide who was worthy to live and who died it was eating away at his soul. He went to his old sensei to seek his advice he found his master at a shrine for the dead. When he asked who his sensei was mourning he told Zenkichi that he had lost seven friends and three family members in combat so he was paying his respects not mourning them. Zenkichi asked him how he could pay his respects instead of mourning the loss of family and friends. His sensei replied that each and everyone of of the people who died in combat understood that they might die when they went into combat mourning them only showed disrespect to their memories. His sensei told him that he couldn't hold onto the past if he did he wouldn't be able to look to the future. Zenkichi left wondering about many things but for the first time in months he slept soundly. He began to think a different way his thoughts turned towards peace but he kept his thoughts on battle he realized peace is something he wanted but battle was reality and sometimes it had to be done for peace. As such he began his training once more and asked the mizukage to send him back out into the field to do whatever was needed to keep Kiri safe.

For nearly a year Zenkichi went back to his daily life training and going out on the missions he was told to do he was at peace with himself finally. He was still training with Reyne who had become a chuunin and a rather good medical nin surpassing even her teacher she had finally told the person she liked that she liked him and they were dating it seemed everything was going great. But good things can only last for so long they say and Zenkichi's good life was coming to a close as he learned that Koru had escaped from prison and left the village. Apparently he had made a weapon out of his steak bone and killed the guard by plunging it into his neck using that he killed the guard and took his clothes. He had walked out right in front of his guards and no one realized it until they sent for his next meal and found the body of the guard. Zenkichi hearing this was shocked and dismayed he had hoped Koru would realize that he couldn't have Reyne and return to normal. Instead things had gotten worse there was a clear kill order on Koru and Zenkichi knew that the other shinobi of his village would do it without mercy if they found him.

So Zenkichi decided he would track Koru down himself and end this once and for all even if it meant he had to drag Koru back with every bone in his body broken. Zenkichi went to the mizukage and requested permission to hunt down Koru as a wandering nin of Kiri and he would not return until he brought Koru back dead or alive. His request was granted an he left the village and everyone he knew behind now.

Wandering Arc:

Months passed as Zenkichi searched for Koru but it seemed Koru was a step ahead of him every time, whenever he got close it seemed Koru had just left the area Zenkichi came to. Zenkichi had heard the rumors that Koru had joined a powerful organization called Akatsuki that wished to extract and control all the bijuus of the world. It seemed that had been unsuccessful in that area so far but they were keeping Koru from Zenkichi and that was becoming bothersome. He needed to find one of their bases and then find out where they were keeping Koru hidden from him. Too bad Zenkichi didn't know they were also watching him as well as training Koru at the same time who wanted revenge on the entire village for locking him away. But when told that Zenkichi was looking for him Koru thought he would have to kill his old friend and teammate before he went after the village. It was only a matter of time before the two old friends met now as they both looked for one another the battle would be one to be remembered. As Koru looked for Zenkichi he found finding him a bit harder then he thought as it seemed Zenkichi had disappeared.

Indeed Zenkichi had disappeared he had made a stop in his search for Koru at the fire temple in the land of fire to see the ninja monks. He wanted to learn to better control himself and his chakra he wanted to learn what it was to be at peace with everything. He stayed there for three months studying hard at every thing they taught him he never left the temple so Koru was never able to find him in this time. His overall strength did not increase but Zenkichi gained something else wisdom, clarity, and true thinking. He was no longer the naive child that Koru and everyone else in the village knew long ago he had become his own person and not his father. Zenkichi was looking at the world through new eyes it seemed but while his perspective on things may have changed he still had a job to do he must kill Koru. He thanked the monks of the fire temple for their teachings and left in search of Koru once more. He found a few leads on his old friend who was said so be staying in the land of the wind near the Suna village out in the desert Koru was staying in one of the many bases of Akatsuki now.

While Koru had given up looking for Zenkichi he now had no idea that Zenkichi was heading right towards him now. It took but a few days to reach the enemy base where Zenkichi slipped in undetected and began to look for Koru. Zenkichi could have attacked the whole base himself but that was not his mission his mission was to kill Koru and bring proof back to his Mizukage. Searching took a few hours but he finally found Koru who had no idea he was being followed by Zenkichi who had concealed himself with a jutsu. He waited until Koru left the base and followed him to a small forest like area in the land of fire before dropping the jutsu and showing himself to Koru. He could have attacked while concealed but Zenkichi wanted to try and covince Koru to come back to Kiri with him. But his words fell on deaf ears as Koru launched an attack before Zenkichi was even halfway through with his words. Zenkichi was in despair knowing that he couldn't make Koru listen to his words so he did the only thing he could he fought back against Koru with intent to kill. One way or another this was going to end today he told Koru if he had to drag him back broken or dead he would he yelled at Koru.

Koru merely laughed as he stared at Zenkichi with a hate so intense that Zenkichi could feel it in the pit of his stomach it was pure evil he thought. This wasn't the same Koru that Zenkichi had been on a team with this person was not Koru he told himself it was like he was completely different but that just made it easier to fight him. The battle was long and fierce neither willing to back down as they destroyed the landscape around them it was like a mini war between just two people. It was a battle for the ages one that no one would have forgotten if they had the pleasure to see such and intense and thrilling fight. It had been nearly and hour now the two of them were wore down and wounded in several places neither willing to give up the fight until the other was dead. Using a simple jutsu Zenkichi caused it to rain all around them soaking both of them down to what seemed to be the bone.

The fight had gotten out of hand Zenkichi knew after all he should have just killed him when he was concealed but he had to try and bring him back peacefully. But he couldn't do that so violence was the only thing his old friend would understand now so be it Zenkichi told himself as he charged his old friend. Koru rushed forward through the rain at Zenkichi as well intent on killing his friend with one last attack but he forgot Zenkichi was always so smart. As the were nearly upon each other Zenkichi slid along the ground kicking Koru's feet from under him. Koru fell towards Zenkichi's kunai it was the same move he used against the genin in the second test so Koru knew how to counter. Or so he thought but it had all been a set up the kick that had knocked his legs from under him had planted Zenkichi's seal on him once he went to move he found he couldn't. Koru fell straight down onto Zenkichi's kunai plunging into his chest through the breast bone coming to a halt just before the tip pierced the heart of Koru. Being so near death Koru looked directly into Zenkichi's eyes and smiled, he told Zenkichi he was sorry for the way he acted and that he couldn't control himself.

Zenkichi laid Koru on his back and asked why would he apologize when it was too late, Koru told him that it was like he was in a dream the entire time he was gone from the village. Koru could see the things he was doing but it was like it wasn't him it was like he was watching himself. Zenkichi had already guessed what had happened while Koru was filled with rage and hate he still had a seed of good within himself he wasn't evil. Koru had been trapped in a genjutsu that messed with his thoughts making him into a completely different person over the time he had been trapped under it. Zenkichi asked him if he had any last words before he killed him Koru said only a few words "can you forgive me for being weak?" he asked in a weak voice. Zenkichi held his hand tightly and told him there was nothing to forgive and plunged the rest of the kunai into his friends heart killing him so he wouldn't die slowly. Zenkichi cried for the first time in years as he hung over the body of his dead friend it was also the first time he had felt anger in a long time. He cried in a furious rage bent on destroying the organization called Akatsuki for manipulating his friend for making him into something he wasn't that day he made an unbreakable vow he would kill every member of Akatsuki.

Only minutes after the battle Zenkichi buried his dead friend he did not mark the grave site for he had the area burned into his memory forever this was the place where he killed his best friend. He sent a message to the Mizukage and told him that he had lost track of Koru but he knew that the Akatsuki organization was keeping him safe. With no one but Zenkichi knowing about the death of Koru at his hands he could lie forever and hunt down the Akatsuki members one by one. But Zenkichi was no fool he would not go in without a plan of some sort he would learn about this group what their members were like what type of style they used when fighting. Every small detail Zenkichi would find out about these people and their group as he hunted them down slowly showing them that they were not gods who could control people as they desired.

Zenkichi Left the small forest area where he fought and killed Koru that night he was set on going to the land of iron. The land of iron is a neutral country not involving itself in the conflicts of shinobi it was here that Zenkichi stayed in solitude for five years before coming out. Over the five years Zenkichi honed his already impressive skills and knowledge of jutsu to a point where he could be considered a master. Zenkichi however has not grown arrogant over the time instead he has reflected upon how weak he still truly is. It was from this time that Zenkichi began his hunt for the Akatsuki and the bijuu they hunted.
